Dwarka Expressway: India’s first access controlled eight-lane expressway which is being built in Haryana is all set to operate by April 2024. The name of this Expressway is Dwarka Expressway which is being constructed at a cost of rupees 9,000 crores. The total width of the Expressway will be 34-meters. The speciality of this Expressway is that it will be constructed on a single pillar. As this gets constructed, there will be less pressure on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway NH-48. As the traffic will get distributed among both the Expressways.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed that the Expressway will consist of 4 level road network which will include incorporating flyovers, grade roads, tunnels, under passes, flyover and elevated roads. The construction is expected to cover a total area of 18.9 km in Haryana where as will take 10.1 km in Delhi. The beginning of the Expressway will be from Shiv Murti on NH 48 and will come to an end at Kherki Daula Toll plaza. The eight Lane tunnel will measure around 3.6 km which will be built on the Expressway.

Intelligent Transport System (ITS) facility will be provided

Other than being India’s first 8 Lane access controlled Expressway, it will also be the India’s widest Expressway till date. So, to make things more simple, Intelligent Transport System (ITS) facility will be provided on the entire Expressway so that overall travel experience is made smooth. Development of this Expressway will create a better connectivity between Haryana and West Delhi. Beside, Travelling to Indira Gandhi International Airport will also become easier.

However, along with the Expressway, a three lane service road will also be built along both the sides of it. The total length of the Expressway will be 29.6 km. Recently, Union Minister had shared few pictures of the under construction Dwarka Expressway. He said “it is being built as a bypass to decongest the National Highway 48 between Delhi and Gurugram”. This Expressway is being built under project bharatmala.

Automated tolling system on Dwarka Expressway

This bypass road will be having a completely automated tolling system. Which means that each vehicle will be connected with the GPS and toll tax will automatically deducted directly from the bank account. The amount will be deducted on the basis of distance which will be calculated on its own. It will intersect Pataudi Road (SH-26) which is next to Harsaru and Farukhnagar (SH-15A) near Basai. And, it will cross the Delhi-Rewari rail line which is located just after Gurugram Sector-88 (B) and UER-II at Bharthal. Further, as per minister, it will also connect Gurugram Sector 21 with other Sectors like 88, 83, 84, 99, 113 and Dwarka to Global City.
